How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.

Since it’s August, you’re traveling during Zanzibar’s dry season, with generally warm, relatively dry weather. The southeast can be quite windy, while the north coast around Nungwi/Kendwa is usually a better choice for calmer beach conditions

Day 1 :

Arrival in Zanzibar – Stone Town

Upon arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, you will meet your driver and transfer to your hotel in Stone Town. After check-in and some time to relax, you will enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic streets of Stone Town. Explore the Old Fort, House of Wonders area, Darajani Market, Sultan's Palace area, and the narrow streets filled with traditional Zanzibar architecture. In the evening, you can enjoy the sunset along the waterfront and have dinner at one of Stone Town's restaurants.

Day 2 :

Prison Island & Nakupenda Sandbank

After breakfast, take a boat from Stone Town to Prison Island. The island is famous for its giant Aldabra tortoises, and you will have time to explore the island and learn about its history. Continue by boat to Nakupenda Sandbank, where you can swim, relax on the white sand and snorkel in the clear Indian Ocean. A seafood or local-style lunch can be served during the excursion before returning to Stone Town in the afternoon. The evening is free for you to explore Stone Town or enjoy dinner at your hotel.

Day 3 :

Spice Farm – Transfer to Nungwi/Kendwa

After breakfast, check out and begin your journey toward Zanzibar's northern beaches. On the way, visit a local spice farm where you will learn about cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg and other spices that have made Zanzibar famous as the "Spice Island." You will have the opportunity to smell and taste some of the spices and tropical fruits. After the tour and lunch, continue to Nungwi or Kendwa and check into your beachfront hotel. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Day 4 :

Mnemba Island Snorkeling Excursion

After breakfast, head out for one of Zanzibar's most popular marine experiences. Take a boat toward the Mnemba area for snorkeling in the clear turquoise waters. Depending on sea conditions and wildlife activity, you may see colorful tropical fish, coral reefs and other marine life. After snorkeling, enjoy time on the boat and return to the northern coast around lunchtime. The afternoon is free for swimming, relaxing at the hotel or enjoying the beach.

Day 5 :

Nungwi/Kendwa Beach Day & Sunset Dhow Cruise

Today is dedicated to relaxation. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before spending the morning swimming, sunbathing or simply relaxing on the beach. In the afternoon, take a traditional Zanzibar dhow boat for a sunset cruise along the coast. Enjoy the ocean views as the sun sets over the water, followed by an evening at leisure in Nungwi or Kendwa.

Includes: Sunset dhow cruise, boat crew, drinking water and hotel-area transfers where applicable.

Day 6 :

Jozani Forest Tour

After breakfast, travel to Jozani Forest, Zanzibar's famous nature reserve and home to the Zanzibar red colobus monkey. During a guided walk through the forest, you will have the opportunity to see these unique monkeys and learn about the island's ecosystem. After the forest visit, return toward the coast for lunch and then spend the afternoon relaxing at your hotel. This is a good final full day because it combines wildlife, nature and beach time without making the itinerary too exhausting.

Day 7 :

Leisure – Airport Transfer

Enjoy your final breakfast at the hotel and spend the morning relaxing on the beach, depending on your flight departure time. After checking out, your driver will transfer you to Zanzibar International Airport for your onward flight.
